Oldbury Stay Campsite
Sustainability Statement
Our approach to sustainability at Oldbury Hill Campsite is based on low-impact, practical operations that protect the landscape while supporting responsible visitor use.
We are committed to operating the site in a way that respects the natural woodland setting, encourages environmental responsibility, and aligns with the values and long-term conservation of the wider natural habitat.
The intention is to preserve the character of the site while creating a well-managed and environmentally responsible experience.
Day-to-day operations focus on responsible resource use, waste reduction and practical sustainability measures.
Clear recycling facilities are provided across the site, including separated bins for general waste, mixed recycling and glass, alongside encouragement for guests to minimise waste during their stay.
Composting of suitable green waste and organic material generated through routine maintenance is undertaken where practical and appropriate.
We seek to reduce unnecessary material usage throughout operations, limit single-use plastics where feasible, and encourage digital communication and booking systems to reduce paper consumption.
Water and energy use is monitored and managed efficiently, with a focus on maintaining and optimising existing systems rather than introducing unnecessary infrastructure.
We recognise the importance of the site’s woodland and countryside setting and take practical steps to protect and respect it. This includes maintaining vegetation responsibly, avoiding disturbance to sensitive areas, protecting habitats, and supporting biodiversity through small-scale and proportionate measures where appropriate.
Visitor behaviour forms an important part of our sustainability approach. Guests will be encouraged to follow a respectful “leave only footprints” ethos during their stay. Clear guidance will be provided to promote responsible use of the site, quiet enjoyment of the space, and appreciation of the surrounding woodland environment.
We encourage activities such as walking, nature appreciation and low-impact outdoor recreation, helping visitors develop a stronger connection to the landscape they are visiting.
Simple interpretation and signage has been introduced to help guests better understand the natural environment, local wildlife and the importance of protecting the countryside for future generations.
Where possible, we support the local economy by working with nearby suppliers, services and trades, while also encouraging visitors to engage with local businesses, pubs, attractions and surrounding destinations during their stay.
Overall, our approach is to operate Oldbury Hill Campsite with a balance of environmental responsibility, practical management and sustainable tourism principles.
Our aim is to create a respectful, well-managed campsite that protects the character of the site, supports responsible visitor experiences and aligns closely with best working practices.
